@Johnny,
Sure, you could definitely do it this way. You could also set up a series of Thors and a Combinator knob which would switch between all the Matrixes as well, if you really wanted to go that route. This way, you could switch between whichever Matrix you wanted using a Combinator knob. Lots of possibilities. Go forth and build it! ;-)

Wouldn't be easier to have all the matrizes on a single combinator with all their signals routed with CV spiders?

enessar,
I agree it's simple and quick to add an LFO from a Subtractor, for instance, and this is a valid way to go. But the LFO is limited in some regards. You have a few set patterns from which to select. If you add a matrix, you can make patterns of any variety which are 32 steps long, or if you automate the patterns, you can create an individual pattern which is 32x32 steps long, and then automate switching from one pattern to the next. Try doing that with an LFO. The Malstrom comes close, but even then, your LFO patterns are "set" or "fixed." One of the points of this article is to give you a way to create a series of Matrix Toolboxes with your own "LFO" patterns (so-to-speak), that can just as easily be inserted anywhere in any of your songs. Once this "toolbox" is created, it becomes just as easy to insert a Matrix as it would an LFO from any of the devices.

Of course, the other point to the article is to go beyond simply the Matrix, and take the article as a template which you can use to create Redrum toolboxes, bass toolboxes, synth line toolboxes. For example, open an RNS, create a combinator, then create 40 note lanes with different melody lines. So the next time you need a melody line, you open up your toolbox and see if something fits. Then it's just a matter of copy/paste.

Hope that was useful.
All my best,

Nice idea!

But for the simple FLO patterns such as sine or saw, I usually use not used LFO of one of the subtractor or Dr.REX in the rack or make one for this. It is much faster.
